Photo taken on 6.9.2006 in the tropical border. Also known as Newbiscus "Mauvelous". In late summer, this shrub (1 meter tall) produces huge saucer shaped flowers. At the end of the summer it dies off, but reappears again in spring. The flowers are 20-30cm in diameter and although it looks tropical it really is winter hard.
