Photo taken on 9.10.2007 in the tropical border. This is a striking flower for a dull autumn day. It is an autumn flowering bulb, belonging to the Amarylis family, which flowers from early October until November. The strap like leaves emerge afer the flowering and survive the winter undamaged.
