Dryopteris affinis Barnesii

Photos taken on 23rd May on the "Metasequoia path" in the wood. The common name is "Barnessii male fern". It is a deciduous fern with large clumps of lance-shaped, pinnatified, medium green fronds, 3 to 4 feet long. This fern prefers a moist, slightly acidic soil and partial shade. The long fronds can arch and the short segments are triangular and toothed.
